7-year-old in critical condition after consuming a slushie contaminated with fentanyl and methamphetamine

In April 2026, a 7-year-old girl in Charlack, Missouri, was hospitalized in critical condition after consuming a slushie contaminated with fentanyl and methamphetamine. The incident occurred at a home on Olden Avenue when the child’s mother noticed her acting “abnormally” and called emergency services. The girl was rushed to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where toxicology tests confirmed the presence of the powerful illegal drugs in her system.

The investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Jaslyn Raquelle Crawford, who faces two felony counts of first-degree child endangerment. Crawford allegedly admitted to investigators that she was using drugs in the bathroom when the child entered to share her drink. Authorities believe the slushie became contaminated during this encounter, noting that even trace amounts of fentanyl “dust” can trigger a life-threatening overdose in a young child.

Law enforcement officials described the scene as hazardous, discovering drug capsules strewn throughout the home and bathroom. Additional drugs were reportedly found in Crawford’s car and hidden in her purse and clothing during her intake at the jail. Crawford is currently held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $250,000 bond, with a court hearing for bond reduction scheduled for April 24, 2026.

The child remains in critical condition and is reportedly unlikely to survive the intoxication.
