Staff member at Coconut Creek School used Roblox and Discord to sexually entice children

Evan Michael Sands, a 26-year-old staff member at Randazzo School in Coconut Creek, was arrested by federal agents on April 23, 2026. Investigators allege that Sands used the gaming platform Roblox and the messaging app Discord to target and sexually entice children, some of whom were reportedly under the age of 12.

The federal criminal complaint details a predatory pattern where Sands allegedly offered “Robux,” the virtual currency used in Roblox, to incentivize minors to send him sexually explicit photos and videos. Officials state that Sands typically initiated contact on the gaming site before moving conversations to Discord to bypass safety filters and exchange illicit content. During questioning, Sands reportedly admitted to these activities and confessed to soliciting minors since at least 2021.

In response to the arrest, Randazzo School administrators expressed deep shock and confirmed that Sands has been permanently removed from his position. While the school stated there is currently no evidence that any of its own students were victimized, the case has intensified a broader debate regarding child safety on digital platforms. Florida officials continue to investigate the safety protocols of Discord and Roblox as legal pressure mounts over the platforms’ susceptibility to online grooming.
