Violent home invasion in Hollywood Hills

The victim of a violent home invasion in the Hollywood Hills on April 23, 2026, has been identified as Margaux Mirkin, the 71-year-old heiress to the Budget Rent a Car fortune. Mirkin was reportedly at her home on Lookout Mountain Avenue when at least three masked suspects forced their way inside. During the ordeal, the attackers beat and strangled her before making off with a significant amount of valuables.

The suspects escaped with approximately $20,000 in cash and jewelry, fleeing the scene in a white sedan. The robbery was briefly interrupted by a neighbor who confronted the group with a flashlight, causing the suspects to drop a bag containing some of the stolen jewelry. Mirkin was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but has since been released and is currently recovering.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation into the attack. While police have not officially confirmed if the home was targeted, neighbors have expressed concern that Mirkin’s high-profile background made her a mark. This tragedy follows another recent loss for the family; Mirkin is the widow of William de Rothschild, who passed away in a house fire at a nearby property in 2024.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for additional surveillance footage. The community remains on high alert as authorities search for the suspects involved in the brutal assault.
