Andrew Tollinche

Two fatal stabbings occurred early Friday morning, May 1, 2026, in Nassau County, Long Island, leaving two people dead at separate locations. Nassau County police first responded to a Wendy’s on Austin Boulevard in Island Park around 12:30 a.m., where they found a woman who had been stabbed while reportedly taking out the trash. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Approximately two and a half hours later, at 3:00 a.m., a second stabbing was reported at a residence on West Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream. Officers discovered another victim at that scene who had also succumbed to fatal stab wounds. Investigators have stated that the suspect was known to both victims, suggesting the attacks were not random but targeted.

Law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect later Friday morning outside a 7-Eleven on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. While the individual is currently in custody, police have not yet released the identities of the victims or the suspect, and formal charges are still pending. The Nassau County Homicide Bureau is continuing to investigate the motive behind the back-to-back attacks.

Nassau County police have identified the suspect as Andrew Tollinche, a 22-year-old from the Bronx. He was apprehended on the morning of Friday, May 1, 2026, outside a 7-Eleven in Lynbrook. Tollinche now faces multiple charges, including murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators revealed that the attacks were likely targeted, as he was reportedly known to both victims.

Beyond the Long Island incidents, Tollinche was already being sought by the NYPD for a separate stabbing that occurred in the Bronx on Wednesday, April 29, involving a 17-year-old victim. Authorities are exploring the possibility that the violence was fueled by a dispute involving antagonistic posts on TikTok.
