The FBI and Atlanta Police Department issued a joint warning about a rise in activity from 764, a violent, nihilistic extremist network

The FBI and Atlanta Police Department (APD) issued a joint public warning on April 9, 2026, regarding 764, a violent, nihilistic extremist network that targets children as young as nine. Described as “modern-day terrorism,” this decentralized group operates primarily through private messaging and gaming platforms like Discord, Telegram, Roblox, and Minecraft. Members groom vulnerable minors by building trust before escalating to psychological warfare, including doxing, swatting, and blackmail to coerce them into illegal or dangerous acts.

The network is driven by a misanthropic ideology that glorifies chaos and the “collapse of society”. Victims are often manipulated into producing graphic child sexual abuse material (CSAM), performing acts of animal cruelty, or engaging in severe self-harm—sometimes being forced to carve “764” or member usernames into their own skin. In Atlanta, authorities are currently investigating five active cases, some of which involve minors being coerced into calling in bomb threats to schools and businesses for financial extortion.

Nationwide, the FBI is tracking over 450 subjects and hundreds of investigations across all 56 field offices, treating the network as a “tier one” national security threat. While several key leaders have been arrested—including founder Bradley Cadenhead, who is serving an 80-year sentence—the network persists through numerous splinter groups and copycats like “No Lives Matter” and “Maniac Murder Cult”.

Law enforcement urges families to monitor digital activity closely and watch for red flags, such as sudden behavioral shifts, an obsession with a new “online friend,” or unexplained physical injuries. Suspicious activity can be reported to local FBI field offices or via the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
