On April 23, 2026, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Borowski sentenced 35-year-old Ralph Taylor to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2025 shooting death of his 4-year-old son, Ralph Taylor III. During the emotional hearing, Judge Borowski characterized Taylor as “the face of pure evil,” citing the extreme violence of the crime and Taylor’s lack of remorse. The sentence followed a March conviction for first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The fatal incident occurred on July 10, 2025, during a domestic dispute between Taylor and his wife. Evidence presented at trial showed that an intoxicated Taylor took his young son to an upstairs bedroom and shot him at point-blank range. Although Taylor initially concocted a story claiming the child was struck by a stray bullet fired through an open window while jumping on a bed, investigators quickly debunked this. They discovered the murder weapon—a Glock handgun stained with blood—hidden inside a storage container in a bedroom closet.
In his final statement to the court, Taylor maintained his innocence regarding the murder, though he admitted he was “responsible” for the unsafe environment that led to the tragedy. This stance was flatly rejected by the prosecution and the judge, who noted that Taylor had a significant criminal history that legally barred him from owning a firearm. The boy’s mother, Casandra Taylor, is also facing charges related to child neglect and the illegal purchase of the firearm used in the killing.
