Daijon Bourn

Daijon Bourn, the teenager originally known for the 2022 shooting of Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr., was sentenced this week to 30 months in prison. This latest legal chapter stems from a violent 2025 robbery and shooting that occurred while Bourn was a fugitive, having escaped from a juvenile detention facility in Pennsylvania where he was serving time for his previous crimes.

The May 2025 incident involved Bourn and an accomplice, Jamel Hawkins, targeting a victim in Northeast D.C. for a luxury Cartier watch. During the confrontation, the victim was shot multiple times and sustained serious injuries. During his sentencing hearing, Bourn expressed remorse specifically to this victim, an act the judge noted as a sign of emerging maturity. Both Bourn and Hawkins received identical 2.5-year sentences for their roles in the assault.

This sentencing highlights the legal complexities surrounding Bourn’s history. Because he was only 14 at the time of the Brian Robinson Jr. shooting and the separate killing of 15-year-old Andre Robertson, he could only be prosecuted as a juvenile for those crimes, receiving a commitment that would end at age 21. However, this newest sentence for the 2025 robbery ensures he will remain in the adult prison system as he continues to age out of the juvenile framework.
