Marcus Berry

38-year-old Marcus Berry is facing charges for allegedly killing one man and wounding another during a shooting that broke out over a $30 to $40 argument in a Milwaukee dice game. This incident is particularly notable because Berry had only been out of prison for approximately four months after serving a sentence for a nearly identical crime—shooting several people during a different dice game in 2017.

The shooting occurred on the night of April 24, 2026, at an apartment near 11th and Atkinson. According to investigators, a witness watching a livestream from inside the apartment saw Berry arguing with 35-year-old Christopher White. During the dispute, Berry reportedly bragged about his previous prison time for gambling-related violence just before opening fire. White was fatally shot in the head, and a second victim was wounded while attempting to intervene in the fight.

Berry was apprehended by Milwaukee police on April 20, 2026, at a residence near 40th and Sheridan. Investigators recovered a handgun hidden in a laundry hamper that ballistics tests linked to the crime scene, along with clothing matching surveillance footage of the shooter. He is currently charged with first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless injury, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
