RIP Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez

The human remains recovered from an Everman backyard have been officially identified as belonging to 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, who went missing in October 2022. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office utilized dental records to make the positive identification. This confirmation follows an intensive three-day excavation led by the FBI and local police behind the child’s former home on Wisteria Drive, providing definitive proof of death while forensic experts continue working to establish the official cause and manner of death.

The case began in March 2023 when authorities launched a welfare check and discovered Noel had not been seen for months. Investigators revealed that his mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, had previously made statements that the child—who suffered from severe physical and developmental disabilities—was “possessed by a demon.” Days after police began asking questions, Rodriguez-Singh, her husband, and her six other children abruptly fled the United States on a flight to India, leaving Noel behind.

Following an international manhunt, Rodriguez-Singh was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, captured in India, and extradited back to Texas to face charges of capital murder, injury to a child, and child abandonment. However, a Tarrant County judge recently ruled her incompetent to stand trial. She has been transferred to a state mental health facility for treatment to restore her competency so the criminal case can proceed. Prosecutors noted that while the discovery of Noel’s remains brings profound sadness, it delivers vital physical evidence to aggressively pursue justice.
