Michael Levi Flores, 23, was arrested and faces a murder charge after the fatal shooting of his 50-year-old mother, Jana Flores, inside a home in Conroe, Texas. The incident began around 5:20 a.m. when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a family member was threatening people with a gun at a residence on Beeson Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Jana Flores dead from an apparent gunshot wound, with at least one other family member present inside the home during the shooting.
Shortly after the initial emergency call, authorities received a second 911 report regarding a vehicle crash a short distance away from the scene. When deputies located Flores near the crash site, he resisted arrest and engaged in a physical altercation with the responding officers.
Deputies used non-lethal weapons to subdue Flores and safely take him into custody without any injuries to law enforcement. He was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation due to the crash and the struggle with police. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit stated that Flores will be formally booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with murder upon his discharge from the medical facility.
Authorities have characterized the fatal shooting as an isolated domestic incident, assuring the community that there is no ongoing threat to the public. While the suspect is in custody, the exact motive behind the shooting remains under active investigation by local law enforcement.
