David Jayne, 63, a retired police officer and former school security chief, was arrested on April 24, 2026, in Bristol Township, Pennsylvania. The charges followed an investigation into the possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Authorities initiated the probe after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding illicit files being uploaded to a social media platform.
During the investigation, Jayne reportedly admitted to law enforcement that he had been viewing and collecting child pornography for approximately two decades. This period of time overlaps with his tenure as a police officer with the Bristol Township Police Department from 1989 to 2000, as well as his subsequent career in school security. Most recently, he served as the Director of Security for the Bristol Township School District before retiring in June 2023.
Despite his extensive history working in schools, investigators have stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting any students within the district were victims of his alleged crimes. The school district has expressed deep concern over the allegations and is cooperating with law enforcement. Officials emphasized that Jayne underwent all required background checks during his employment, which did not flag any criminal activity at the time.
Jayne was arraigned with bail set at $1 million (10% or $100,000 required for release), which he posted shortly after his arrest. As a condition of his bail, he is strictly prohibited from having any contact with minors or using the internet for non-legal purposes. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 6, 2026, as the District Attorney’s office continues to review digital evidence seized from his residence.
