Donald Lee Dubuc

The Kent Police Department is actively investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred in the city’s West Hill neighborhood. On May 12, 2026, at approximately 9:27 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting at a residence located in the 27100 block of 31st Avenue South, near Star Lake. Upon entering the home, emergency responders discovered the bodies of two adult men who had already succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds.

An on-scene witness informed authorities that 48-year-old Donald Lee Dubuc opened fire on his 69-year-old father, Michael Lee Dubuc, before turning the firearm on himself. Law enforcement personnel confirmed that both individuals resided together at the house where the tragedy took place. A formal report released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office on May 14 detailed that the elder Dubuc died from a gunshot wound to the head and neck, while the younger Dubuc died from self-inflicted head wounds.

Kent Detectives have taken over the scene to conduct a full homicide investigation. While forensic teams continue to collect evidence, officials have noted that it remains unclear what exactly precipitated or led up to the violent dispute. Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner publicly reassured neighboring residents that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
